Fondazione Hillary Merkus Recordati

Passion at the service of art, creativity, and social inclusion

The Fondazione

A platform created to support contemporary figurative arts, to protect young talents, and to contribute to the evolution of creativity.

Hillary Merkus Recordati

(1951 - 2020) was a collector and philanthropist.

Born in Eindhoven to a Dutch father and Indian mother, she grew up between Singapore and India, always making the best of different cultures. She then studied in the UK before moving permanently to Milan in 1972 where she began working in fashion.

She married Giovanni Recordati (second marriage) and dedicated her life to her family and her passions and values, cultivating the study of art and supporting important philanthropic projects of a social nature.

Her interest in art was her guiding light, enabling her to become a respected collector of modern and contemporary works of art.

She led her son Andy by the hand on his discovery of art, thus guiding him to become a modern philanthropist, at the service of talent, creativity, and 'giving back' to the less fortunate.

Hillary was a virtuous example of an evolved woman, with the highest principles of ethics and generosity that she always defended and shared with pride and passion.

" My mother always put people at the centre of every project, understanding their visions and values, respecting their desires and passions.

With pride and total love, I will strive, as she always did, to pursue the same goals with the same strength and determination.”
